Recently I bumped into an annoying bug in the code of a report, wrote about it a while ago, notified Oracle. And they has confirmed that a new version of this specific report is in development phase.

But.. a report can be modified, so if it’s not […]

Still loving the idea to use Oracle Enterprise Manager as a ‘kind of ‘ Software Asset Management Tool, and get regular centralized reports that tells me what Oracle software is running and if there are changes in use of licenses over time. The necessary data is already there in the […]

Heard about it at Oracle OpenWorld 2015: A new feature in Oracle Enterprise Manager 13c is the possibility to incorporate ORAchk, the healthcheck tool for databases, RAC and Engineered Systems.

This post is about downloading (and importing), deploying and provisioning the ORAchk-plugin. Spoiler-alert: there’s downtime involved of the OMS.

There are two […]

Metric ‘swap utilisation(%)’ on Grid Control node too high.

By |2019-10-07T08:35:29+02:00August 12th, 2011|Categories: grid control, Oracle Enterprise Manager|Tags: , , , , , |

The metric 'swap utilisation (%)' on the node where Grid Control resides, shows permanently a very hig value. Red Hat Linux, 64-bits, 32GB RAM, 4GB swap. Adding 4GB to the swap-file solved the problem.

Short one this time, all in favour of getting my green ‘pie’ in Grid Control management server.

Grid Control: 10.2.0.5. Discoverer: 10.1.2.x
In Grid Control, after upgrade to 10.2.0.5, a Discoverer target shows down in the list, while it’s functioning quite well.

It seemed an old bug (Grid Ctrl 10.1.04) is still not […]

By |2019-09-28T19:51:51+02:00July 10th, 2009|Categories: App. Server|Tags: , , , |

Creating a reports server and integrate it with Enterprise Manager / iasconsole

Why:
– Under control of opmn (wil be automatically restarted)
– Visible and manageable under Enterprise Manager.

1. Create/start a new reports server : “$ORACLE_HOME/bin/rwserver.sh repproject
2. A small window will pop-up, showing that the reports server is starting up.

Grid Control , ora-27102, memory needed.

Tried to prepare my 10.2.0.4 – Grid Control for an upgrade to 10.2.0.5.   See also http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B16240_01/doc/install.102/e10953/toc.htm .

Updated for example the shared_pool_size  as 128MB as minimum size (see below for other  recommended fixed parameter settings),  although I think it also will work while setting the sga_target. Changed […]

By |2019-09-29T17:12:56+02:00March 31st, 2009|Categories: grid control, Oracle Enterprise Manager|Tags: , , , , |

On my Grid Control management-server (Suse Linux, OMS version 10.2.0.4) a very large number of <defunct> processes arose what eventually caused the OMS not to respond anymore.

Looked like this:
oracle   16932 15961  0 Mar03 ?        00:00:00 <defunct>
oracle   16987 15961  0 Mar03 ?        00:00:00 <defunct>
oracle   […]
